NTHS Girls Golf plays in the fall sports season in the NIAA 1A/2A league, West Division. Opponents include Coral Academy of Reno, Sierra Lutheran, Yerington HS, Oasis Academy, Incline HS, Whittell HS and Sage Ridge Academy. Practices start early August with tournaments beginning in late August/Early September. The regular season runs through early October with Regionals and State Championships being played by mid October.
History of NTHS Girls Golf2023 STATE CHAMPS! NTHS Girls Golf was revived after a many year hiatus into existence in the Fall of 2019. We started with one brave player who qualified for State Championships and finished in the top 10 individually. Despite COVID challenges we have continued to improve results and participation over the past three seasons and now have 10 players and three coaches! We love to make golf fun and don't plan to stop bringing home trophies any time soon! The Lady Lakers won the Team State Championship in October 2023 along with an individual podium sweep, and have won four consecutive regional titles.
Coaching StaffNTHS Girls Golf is coached by Kirsten Harris, a Level 2 Titleist Performance Institute Certified Instructor, who also coaches the junior golf team at Tahoe City Golf Course. Assistant Coach Kyle Culbreth brings a ton of experience and expertise to the team, and a passion for keeping the Laker spirit alive! |
NTHS Girls Golf is extremely lucky to have the support of and generous access to our local Tahoe City Golf Course. The majority of practices are held at Tahoe City with occasional practices held at other local courses. Tournaments are played at Tahoe City as well as Truckee, Carson and Reno area courses.
Culture and Playing AbilityWe have a very inclusive culture and have players from many different backgrounds, experiences and ability levels. Most importantly, we love to have fun, while competing to the best of our ability. Coaches expect commitment to the team and attendance at practices and tournaments, but you don't have to be a great or experienced golfer to play!
NTHS Girls Golf has had great success over the past few seasons with undefeated regular season records and a state championship in 2023! However we are a very inclusive team and welcome players of all experience and ability levels. In 2022 the team was composed of 10 players, some of whom boast nearly single digit handicaps and have been playing their whole lives, and some of whom had never held a golf club prior to the first day of practice. Whatever your level, we would welcome your participation and everyone is sure to have an AWESOME time! Community Support
